Getting started
- Open the lab from your course activity (Open mission … in Maya Academy Labs). The lab cannot be opened any other way.
- Read the Mission briefing and the investigation questions.
- Work the Evidence: search, filter by source, open a record ID for its full detail, and use Create evidence finding.
- Use the Timeline and Pivot and queries to connect records.
- Write your findings in the Notebook: facts with record IDs, inferences, unknowns, and recommended actions with owners.
- In Report, submit your findings to the course. You get a receipt (an ID and a SHA-256 digest of exactly what you submitted) and return to your course with it.
Maya Coach
The coach panel beside your work asks questions about the record or view you are on. It is scripted: no AI, nothing is sent anywhere, and it never gives answers. The same prompts are in the Maya Coach view for screen-reader and small-screen users.
Keyboard and screen readers
- Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move, Enter or Space to press a button. The first Tab offers “Skip to content”.
- Tools are in the “Investigation tools” navigation; the current tool is announced as the current page.
- Wide tables scroll sideways: focus the table area and use the arrow keys.
- Save and status messages are announced; errors are announced as alerts.
Slow or lost connections
- All evidence loads once with the page; searching, the timeline and pivots work without further downloads.
- Your findings save to your lab record every 20 seconds while you type, and a copy is kept on this device. If the connection drops, the next time you open the mission the lab offers to restore that copy.
- Your progress (what you have opened and run) is kept in your lab record and comes back when you return.
- If your course cannot be reached when you return with a receipt, the receipt stays here under Report → Your receipts; try again later.
Limits and boundaries
- A session lasts 60 minutes; after that your work is read-only. Open the lab again from your course to continue: your saved findings carry over.
- Up to 6 sessions a day per mission, 300 recorded steps per session, 32 KB of findings, 5 submissions per session.
- Everything here is fictional training data. No real system, mailbox or person is involved, and the lab takes no action anywhere.
- Problems? Tell your course instructor; they can see your lab sessions and receipts in instructor review.
